WJCR 90.1 FM in Upton, Kentucky was founded by the vision and sacrifice of Rev. Don Powell, Sr. and his wife Gerri. The station went on the air in February 1990. Don Powell, Sr. went home to be with the Lord on November 21, 2004. His son Don Powell, Jr. and his staff are carrying on the vision and ministry that his father started.
WJCR 90.1 FM is Kentucky's only 100,000 watt Christian radio station. It reaches 32 counties throughout central Kentucky, and parts of four other states.
In December of 2007 the ministry was granted a construction permit by the FCC to build a new station in Paducah, Kentucky. WNFC 91.7 FM went on the air December 17, 2010 and reaches most of western Kentucky.
Our format is predominately Southern Gospel, with some Christian Country and Bluegrass music in the mix. WJCR simulcasts its programming with WNFC, and is streaming live 24 hours a day.
We are a prayer and faith-based ministry. Our live world-wide Prayerline broadcast makes our station unique. "Prayerline" is broadcast Monday through Friday at 8:00 PM EST. We pray on the air for the needs of those who call and write in each day.
This ministry is supported by our faithful listeners and underwriters. All gifts are tax-deductible and are very much appreciated. We depend on our listeners' regular monthly support to enable us to continue broadcasting throughout Kentucky, and around the world.
